The Belton New Tech High School cross country team turned in a strong showing at the Waco Midway XC Meet on Thursday, September 4. Running against a competitive field, both the girls’ and boys’ teams demonstrated grit and determination on the course.
Girls’ Results
The Lady Dragons were led by Claire Thomas, who secured a top-10 finish, placing 9th overall with a time of 14:40.0. Close behind her was Ellie Megoulloa, finishing 12th with a time of 14:53.7, giving Belton New Tech two runners in the top 15. Daniella Idumebor rounded out the squad, coming in 46th at 17:30.1. Together, the girls showed steady improvement and competitive spirit throughout the race.
Boys’ Results
On the boys’ side, David Martinez led the way with a 16th-place finish at 20:35.1, putting him among the top runners in the field. Desmond Long followed in 37th place with a time of 22:12.6, and Zorian Hajduk crossed the line in 85th at 27:05.3. The boys’ team gained valuable racing experience and built momentum for the season ahead.
Looking Ahead
With two girls finishing inside the top 15 and the boys showing promising performances, the BNT XC team is off to a solid start this season. The athletes continue to train hard and look forward to upcoming meets, where they aim to keep improving and representing Belton New Tech with pride.
