The New Tech Dragons faced off against the Burnet Bulldogs on Thursday, September 24th, in their fifth district match of the season. Looking to build on their recent success, the Dragons came out strong, taking a 4-3 lead after doubles play. Once again, all three boys doubles teams earned victories, while the girls doubles team of Ujunwa Ogwudu and Harper Lee added another win for the Dragons.

Singles play was another back-and-forth battle, but the Dragons continued to hold onto their lead throughout the evening. With two matches remaining, the Dragons reached the 10-win mark, securing their third consecutive victory.

Ogwudu (6-4, 6-1) earned her second straight singles victory, while Lucas Do (6-0, 6-3) extended his winning streak to three matches. Other singles victories came from Desmond Long (6-2, 7-5), Gracin Catterton (6-1, 6-2), Jett Lopez (6-3, 6-0), and Jackson Trulove (6-2, 6-2).

With the victory, the Dragons officially clinched a playoff berth for the first time in program history—a milestone accomplishment for the team.

The Dragons will close out the regular season next Tuesday against the Salado Eagles at Belton High School. The final match will determine third place in the district standings for the 2026 Team Tennis season.
