On Tuesday, October 1st, the Dragons hosted the Salado Eagles for the final district team tennis match of the 2024 season. This match went down to the wire but the Dragons ended up victorious, finishing off the match 11-8.

In Doubles play, the Dragons won all 3 boys matches, while the Eagles won all 3 girls matches. The Dragons took the Mixed doubles match to give them a 4-3 edge going into singles play. Chinonso Ogwudu and Leland Moore faced tough competition in the first set, winning via tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3), but then dominated the second set, 6-0. Ethan Borchers and Tim McPike won 6-2, 6-2, and Aidan Finn and Zaylen Kimball won 6-3, 6-1.

In Singles, it was a similar result to the Doubles matches, with the boys winning all of their matches and girls losing all of their matches with the exception on Camdyn Harper. Going into the last 3 matches, the Dragons and the Eagles were tied 8-8. But all 3 remaining matches went to the Dragons with Leland Moore winning 7-6 (9-7), 6-3, Camydn Harper winning 6-3, 6-2, and Colton Fry winning 6-0, 6-0.

It was a nice end to the team tennis season for the Dragons. This brought their final record on the year to 3-4, making it the most successful season in their short history. With the 3-4 record, the Dragons ended up in 5th place in the district, just barely missing out on the playoffs. The Dragons now look to shift into the individual tennis season and hope to continue their success!
