The Dragons traveled to Lago Vista to take on the Vikings in their 4th district match of the year. Both teams were neck in neck after the Doubles matches, with Lago Vista having the edge 4-3. Alex Miranda and Colton Fry had a challenging first set but came back to secure the set in a tiebreaker. They were able to win the second set with ease, making the final score 7-6 (9-7), 6-2. Aidan Finn and Zaylen Kimball dispatched of their opponents as well, winning 6-2, 6-1. And to wrap up the doubles victories, Samantha McKenzie and Kamila Nurtdinova won in straight sets, with the second set going all the way to tiebreaker, 6-1, 7-6 (8-6).
Then in Singles, the Dragons ran into tough matchups. On the girls side, the Dragons did not win a single match, but all matches were competitive. On the boys side, Tim McPike won his match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, and Colton Fry did the same, winning 6-3, 6-3. Alex Miranda took his match to a third set tiebreaker and came up just short, 4-6, 6-2, 8-10.
The Dragons now sit at 2-2 on the year for Team Tennis. Their next matchup comes on Thursday, September 19th against Academy at the UMHB Tennis Courts.
