The Belton New Tech senior has earned her place on the biggest stage in Texas high school golf, advancing to the UIL AAA State Golf Tournament after an outstanding postseason run. With a composed, confident presence on the course and a season defined by consistency and grit, McKenzie is not just competing—she’s setting a new standard.
Her journey to state has been nothing short of impressive. At the district tournament, McKenzie delivered a poised performance to claim 2nd place, firmly establishing herself as one of the top players in the field. She followed that up with an exceptional showing at the Region 3 Championship, where she battled against some of the toughest competition in the state and secured a 5th place finish—more than enough to punch her ticket to state.
What makes her regional performance even more remarkable is how she got there.
After day one, McKenzie found herself tied for 16th—well outside the cutoff needed to advance. But day two told a completely different story. Rising to the moment, she delivered a stellar round of 82, surging up the leaderboard with poise and determination.
The highlight of her round came on hole 11, where she carded a spectacular eagle. Off the tee, McKenzie launched a drive of more than 250 yards, setting herself up beautifully. From there, she struck a precise 6-iron that landed within 10 feet of the pin. With calm confidence, she read and rolled in a perfect right-to-left putt, electrifying her round and fueling her comeback. Along the way, she added a handful of pars and birdies, showcasing her ability to stay steady while capitalizing on key opportunities.
But this moment is about more than scores and standings.
With her qualification, McKenzie becomes the first golfer in Belton New Tech’s four-year history to advance to the UIL State Tournament—a milestone achievement that cements her legacy within the program. In a school still building its traditions, she has carved out a defining chapter, proving what’s possible with determination, focus, and belief.
Coaches and teammates point to her work ethic and calm demeanor as the foundation of her success. Round after round, she has demonstrated the kind of mental toughness that golf demands—staying steady under pressure, making smart decisions, and delivering when it matters most.
Now, as she prepares to compete at state, McKenzie carries not only her own ambitions, but the pride of an entire school community. Regardless of the final leaderboard, her impact is already undeniable.
She didn’t just qualify for state—she opened the door for everyone who follows.
