The New Tech Dragons welcomed the Cameron Yoemen to the Yvonne Li Tennis Courts on the UMHB campus on Thursday, August 28th. The Dragons, coming off a victory against Killeen High School, faced fierce competition.

In Doubles play, the Dragons were only able to claim 1 victory, and that came from Leland Moore and Zaylen Kimball (6-4, 4-6, 10-8), winning their 3rd match in a row.

In Singles, the Dragons fought hard and managed victories from Moore (6-3, 6-0) and Jett Lopez (2-4, 5-3, 7-2). Grant Wiseman also won his exhibition match (4-2, 1-4, 7-2). Three other matches went to a third set tiebreaker but the Dragons came up just short in those matchups. Annabel Ferniza (1-6, 6-4, 8-10) lost a heartbreaker match that lasted over 2 hours via the 3rd set tiebreaker.

This match brings the Dragons to 1-2 in district play and 2-3 overall for the fall season. The Dragons look to rebound this Thursday, September 4th, when they host the Marble Falls Mustangs. That match will also be played at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center on the UMHB campus at 4:15 pm.
